One Big Paw at a Time
"AIKO" in Japanese translates to "Little Loved One."
We chose the name "AIKO" because of our love, compassion for, and commitment to all Companion Animals.
While Akitas our our first love, AIKO Companion Animal Rescue (A.C.A.R.) is home to other large-similar-breed dogs that are Seniors (geriatric); Dogs that are terminally ill and need 24/7 Hospice/end of life care; or those that were misunderstood, set up to fail, then abandoned by their owner.
With more than 18 years experience rescuing Akitas and other similar-large-breed dogs, we saw the distinctive need for dogs that are "Unadoptable", or likely to never be adopted.
Give Akitas and Other Large-Breed Dogs a New Leash on Life.
Treat Older, Sick, or Abandoned Dogs with Respect and Dignity.
